By joining our team, your role as engineer will be to contribute to service offers, and to be project leader in engineering and in the selection and specification of low, medium and high voltage equipment under your responsibility. You will take part in defining and implementing projects with our industrial clients.

Among other tasks, you could be called upon to carry out prefeasibility and feasibility studies as well as detail engineering. You will also have to select the equipment and instrumentation, and take part in implementing master plans and plans to modernize and rejuvenate installations (PMRI in French) for clients operating existing facilities.

In addition, you will ensure the quality of professional services and maintain good relations with clients. Finally, you will also take on the role of mentor for young engineers on the team.

Job Description :
BBA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the growth of our Electrical Engineering Department and to contribute to achieving our strategic objectives. The candidate must manage the department’s human, financial and material resources and supervise the activities required to fulfill operational efficiency objectives.

More specifically, the incumbent will be asked to:

• Have a vision as well as a plan to lead our Department into becoming a staple in the Albertan industrial and utility sectors.
• Be a strong entrepreneur and actively participate in business development by finding opportunities and recruiting clients.
• Manage and coordinate BBA consulting services in the field of industrial electrical, renewable energy, substations, transmission and distribution.
• Oversee department activities and ensure proper resource productivity and planning.
• Maintain a high level of technical quality for work performed by the team.
• Ensure the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel.
• Identify training needs, and implement and monitor development plans.
• Communicate BBA's vision and strategic orientation to the team.
• Help achieve the firm’s objectives and develop the department’s operational plan based on BBA's strategic orientations.
• Participate in developing and implementing standard work methods.
• Plan, manage and control technical and commercial risks.
• Soundly manage human resources to maximize their potential.
• Ensure effective inter-team and inter-departmental coordination.
• Establish and maintain effective communications with the various stakeholders engaged in departmental activities and act as resource person for these stakeholders.
• Develop and implement market strategies in cooperation with the BBA Practice and Sales Groups.
• Participate in and prepare proposals, studies, reports, plans, designs, cost estimates and specifications.

Requirements :
• Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
• Current member of APEGA
• At least 20 years of experience (including 8-10 years in technical personnel management)
• Recognized technical expertise in Electrical Design and Studies.
• Ability to travel within Alberta and Canada – 10 to 25%
