Job Description :
Based in Terrace, B.C., your role as an Electrical Engineer in Power Systems will be to take part in engineering projects related to generation, transmission and distribution equipment. You will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of professional services provided and maintaining good working relationships (internally with colleagues and externally with clients).

In such a position, we expect the candidate to have developed a good understanding of electrical design principles, codes and standards, as well as protection and control of systems and apparatus through various applications within the industry (energy, industrial, mining sector, etc.). The candidate will have also been exposed to field work, including assembly, testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.

The successful candidate will carry out the following activities:
• Monitor projects (project team, cost and scheduling) such as outdoor and indoor substations, protection and control upgrades
• Research existing documents on the client’s document control system to support consultants with obtaining relevant information
• Prepare feasibility studies and estimates for OPEX and CAPEX projects
• Prepare DBM and FEED level scopes, estimates, schedules and studies
• Perform and review detailed engineering designs and technical specifications for construction work (greenfield and brownfield projects)
• Participate in the preparation of electrical system studies: system impact assessment, grounding grid, protection and coordination, arc flash, harmonic, etc.
• Coordinate RFI’s with construction and Engineering teams
• Support commissioning and start up teams after construction turnover
• Support operations in troubleshooting a trip event, equipment failure, etc.

Requirements :
Electrical Engineer Degree with eligibility to register with EGBC
• From 3 to 7 years of professional experience, especially in power systems apparatus, protection and Control
• Knowledge of electrical installation safety and operating plant safety practices
• Good working knowledge of substation design, low, medium and high voltage equipment specification (e.g. transformers, metering, switchgears, grounding)
• Exposure to electrical studies (grounding, protection, load flow, harmonics, arc flash)
• Field experience through on-site surveys, construction support, commissioning activities
• Knowledge of project management practices
• Knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC)
• Ability to establish sound working relationships with co-workers, partners, clients and administrators
• Knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Outlook, MS Project, Excel)
• Knowledge of electrical test standards for power system components
• Asset: Working knowledge of electrical transient analysis (switching, TRV, etc.)
• Asset: Hands on experience with testing of electrical power system apparatus
• Asset: Broad experience in various industry sectors (mining, industrial facilities, utilities, power generation)
• Asset: Professional Engineer designation with EGBC
