Job Description :
• Assist the OH&S Manager where occupational health and safety analyses are related to engineering operations and with OH&S issues of the manufacturing field.
• Assist the Western Executive Director, Western office Directors and Department Managers in their specific responsibilities include ensuring that legal requirements are duly respected and applied in accordance with current statutes and regulations and with the firm’s HSE Policy.
• Participate to the drafting of reports intended for the Executive committee and appropriate authorities.
• Ensure a quality service to internal clients and assist in the fulfilment of health and safety requirements for invitation to tender.
• Give OH&S training to new employees.
• Update record and indicators jointly with the Corporate Health and Safety Agent.
• Participate to the drafting and dissemination of information and news releases related to health and safety.
• Manage prevention program in accordance with the various interventions conducted at the premises of our manufacturing clients.
• Manage and coordinate plant health and safety activities for all ongoing and/or upcoming engineering projects.
• Manage safety and accident prevention through the conduct of field audits, and the training of personnel about accurate and safe work practices.
• Investigate occupational injuries and illnesses and recommend corrective and improvement measures.
• Implement training programs taking into account the Company's Health and Safety Policy and ensure their application.
• Prepare and coordinate Health and Safety reviews, audits, inspections, as well as communications to personnel and management.
• Participate actively to the Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton Health and Safety Committee and to the BBA Health and Safety Committee.
• Lead investigations about incidents and accidents, and provide periodical reports.
• Develop safe work methods with employees for interventions carried out at our clients' premises in a proactive manner (e.g.: lock-out procedure, confined space, work at height. etc.).
• Ensure that managers supervise the compliance of sub-contractors to the Company's appropriate programs and regulations.
• Be accountable for ensuring that all safety files and records are kept up to date.
• Act as WSBC and WCB resource-person and provide direct support to employees and project leaders.
• Draft intervention and visit reports and keep a comprehensive file up to date about actions interventions, visits and penalties carried out within the scope of work.
• Participate to special projects with various stakeholders.

Requirements :
• Bachelor degree, diploma or certificate from accredited institution in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
• Minimum of eight years of relevant HSE experience in either Engineering firm, heavy industry, ideally in the mining, energy, or oil and gas sector.
• Good knowledge of the OH&S, regulations and industry best practices.
• Availability for occasional visits to client site, or as necessary.
• Availability for training period at head office in Montreal area for training purpose on regular basis for the first 3 months from start date.
• Good knowledge of MS Office suite.
• ASSET: Professional designation such as (CRSP, CHSO or CHSC)
• Asset: Understand French
