Job Description :
Your role will be to participate in the day to day delivery of engineering services from front-end studies to assisting with commissioning. You will be responsible for delivering high quality professional services and maintaining good working relationships with clients and co-workers.

As a Mechanical Technician/Designer, you will work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in the preparing deliverables to BBA and client standards. This will include:

• Prepare design deliverables in a CAD environment
• Take part in site inspections and, surveys at client sites, locally and abroad
• Troubleshoot and solve technical issues on site or remotely
• 3D Modelling, surface generation
• Point cloud data, GPS and other data imports
• Preparation of 3D layouts using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, CadWorx and SmartPlant
• Create alignments, profiles and sections, volume reports, isometrics
• Assist in the preparation of estimates, schedules, and budgets
• Prepare and evaluate document and drawing packages, report figures, design concepts, technical specifications and calculations
• Interpret complex drawings that incorporate multi disciplinary elements
• Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures
• Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes
• Design and prepare plans and specifications, as part of mandates involving mechanics
• Collect and compile data, and assist in the preparation of estimates, schedules, and budgets
• Ensure quality control of work
• Coordinate and supervise contractors’ jobs
• Perform other technical tasks contributing to project implementation
• Participate in construction site audits

Requirements :
• A diploma in mechanical engineering design technology
• Competency in GIS
• 5 to 10 years of Mechanical design and drafting experience using 3D on hydroelectric projects and/or heavy industrial projects or related design experience
• Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both verbal and written)
• Ability to occasionally travel on short notice both locally and abroad for up to several weeks at a time, if required
• Hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license
• Knowledge of CadWorx, SmartPlant, AutoCAD, Civil 3D etc.
